Every KPI in KPI Depot Now Has a Balanced Scorecard Perspective

If you have ever built a Balanced Scorecard, you know the hardest part is not filling in the four boxes. It is deciding which KPIs belong in each one.

We just made that decision a lot easier. Every KPI in our database, all 24,000+ of them, now carries a Balanced Scorecard perspective: Financial, Customer, Internal Process, or Learning & Growth. The perspective shows up right on each KPI page, next to the definition, formula, and benchmark data you already use.

Here is why this matters.

The Balanced Scorecard works because it forces balance. Most teams over-index on financial metrics because those are the numbers leadership asks about. But financial metrics only tell you what already happened. The other three perspectives are where you catch problems early, while you can still do something about them.

When you can see at a glance that a KPI measures customer loyalty versus operational efficiency versus team capability, building a complete scorecard stops being guesswork. You can scan a KPI group and immediately spot which metrics cover which perspective, and more importantly, which perspective you have been ignoring.

This tagging is the foundation for a couple of bigger features we have been working on, which we will share soon. For now, open any KPI in your function and look for the new perspective label. If you work with the Balanced Scorecard, we think you will find it useful right away.

The perspective tags are live across the entire database today, for all subscribers.

Each KPI group can also be filtered by BSC perspective.
