It's hard to judge a KPI library from the outside. You see a big number on the homepage, a few sample KPIs, and a price. What you can't easily see is how that number is counted, which functions and industries are really covered, or what a full entry looks like once you subscribe.
So we published three pages that answer those questions directly. All three are free, and the figures on them come live from our database, so they are current every time you load them.
KPI Depot at a Glance
The About page now opens with a facts table: how many KPIs, groups, and benchmarks we have, how many attributes each KPI carries, what the plans cost, which download formats you get, and what you can see without a subscription. Every figure carries an "as of" date.
It also explains how we count, because our KPI number needs a footnote. A KPI that belongs to several groups is documented separately in each one. Customer Retention Rate in banking isn't defined quite the same way as Customer Retention Rate in SaaS, so each gets its own entry. That's why we report more than 24,000 KPI entries and, next to it, the number of unique KPIs, just over 17,000 today. Benchmarks are counted separately again: more than 43,000, each tied to a named source.
The Full Catalog, with Counts
The new KPI Catalog lists all 408 KPI groups on one page, organized by business function and industry, with the number of KPIs in each. You can see that Operations Management alone has 44 groups, or browse the 153 industry-specific groups, from banking and biotechnology to retail and robotics, and jump straight to the one you need.
What a Full KPI Entry Looks Like
Every KPI in KPI Depot is documented with the same 13 attributes. We've said that for a while, but a count on its own doesn't tell you much. The new What's in Every KPI page lists all 13 by name and then shows one KPI, Employee Turnover Rate, documented in full: definition, measurement approach, formula, business insights, trend analysis, diagnostic questions, actionable tips, visualization suggestions, risk warnings, tools and technologies, integration points, change impact, and Balanced Scorecard perspective.
That is the level of detail subscribers get for every KPI. Free visitors can already see the first KPIs in each group with their attributes. This page puts one complete example in a single place, along with sample CSV downloads.
How Many KPIs Does KPI Depot Have?
As of October 2026, KPI Depot has more than 24,000 KPI entries (about 17,000 unique KPIs) in 408 groups, covering 15 business functions and 153 industry-specific groups, plus more than 43,000 source-attributed benchmarks. Plans cost $499 a year (Basic) or $999 a year (Pro). The numbers grow every month, so the facts table is the place to check the current count.
If you're weighing KPI libraries against each other, we also put together a side-by-side comparison of KPI Depot, The KPI Institute's smartKPIs.com, and KPI Mega Library. Every competitor figure in it comes from their own websites, with links.
